• Open the "HyperMail Home" stack on your Mac. Hypercard will start up.
The first time you use the system, it will ask you for your user name. You must enter your authorized User Name. Since an authorized UserList is maintained on the server, your name must be on that list for HyperMail to work for you. See your designated System Administrator to put your user name on the HyperMail UserList.
You will see the number of "New" messages waiting for you under the "HyperMail" button.
Your "HyperMail Home" stack has a default 2-minute timer that goes to your mail stack and checks for new messages. If you want to change the timer, simply change it on your "HyperMail Home" card.
• Click on the "HyperMail" button if you want to send or receive messages. You will be placed at a special first message card of your mail stack, which is used as an entry point to your mail stack. It must NOT be changed or deleted.
• The number of new and total messages in your stack is shown at the upper left. Total messages include both New and Old messages.
• Click on "Create New Message" (A new message card is created).
• Enter the desired recipients in the "To" field (using your naming convention). You may use multiple User Names separated by commas. Or, to send to everybody on the user list, use the word "All".
• Enter the "Subject".
• Enter the message text in the message box ( The message box is a "scrolling" field, so your message may be any length).
• Click "Send This Message" (The message is sent to your recipients' mailstack).
• Click on "Delete This Message" if you no longer desire to retain the message once it has been sent.
• Click on the "Home" icon to leave your mail stack and return to your "HyperMail Home" card.
• Click on the Right Arrow icon to step through the messages. Once you have seen a "New" message, it becomes an "Old" message. If desired, delete the message once you have read it.
Note:The right arrow steps through the messages in newest to oldest order. The left arrow steps through the messages in oldest to newest order.
• Click on the "Home" icon to leave your mail stack and return to "HyperMail Home".
IMPORTANT: Make a habit of leaving the mail stack once you are done. If you don't, no one else can send mail to you because your mail stack is considered to be in use by you.
